  • Colorado is an exceptionally cycling-friendly state. However, as in most states, bicyclists are held to the same traffic laws as motorized vehicles. This means yielding to traffic with rights of way, riding single file, obeying stop lights, stop signs, and speed limits, and not riding recklessly or in a manner that endangers others. Furthermore, cyclists should ride safely to the right side of the road.

Single file when other traffic is present, ride as far to the right as possible and use the shoulder when available. All event participants will obey the directions given by Colorado State Troopers and all other law enforcement officers.

Finally, be aware that cyclists are subject to the same tickets and fines as vehicle drivers. The CSP has the authority and the mandate to uphold traffic laws during this event. This includes traffic tickets and the removal of riders.

Check out CDOT’s site for the most recent road announcements.

  • The Mountains to the Desert Classic route travels through some of Colorado's most scenic terrain. Please dispose of trash in proper receptacles and utilize the Porta John's located at the Aid Stations.
